Clips lead to commissions

Savvy publication on the internet has led to another success.

Following on from the story of how the Ultimate Dog Tease has gone from YouTube to Hollywood, Irish comedy group The Rubberbandits have been picked up by Channel 4 to star in a 30-minute pilot.

According to The Stage, this is exactly what the broadcaster was hoping for through their hunt for new amusing clips on their Comedy Blaps site.

Commissioning editor Fiona McDermott said: “We always hoped Comedy Blaps would be the perfect stepping stone for new talent to hone their craft and move up the ladder and that’s exactly what’s happened with the totally brilliant Rubberbandits. We can’t wait for the pilot.”
